The Arizona State University College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) recently selected James Olan Hutcheson as a 2015 CLAS Leader to participate in a series of events on campus in November. ASU’s CLAS Leaders program honors select groups of distinguished graduates and involves them in sharing their experiences with current students.
“I think Mr. Hutcheson’s story of earning his psychology and sociology degrees at ASU indicates a real appreciation for an ASU liberal arts education,” said Linda Raish, Assoc. Dir. of Development, Natural Sciences at ASU. “In both of these majors, current ASU students struggle when asked by their parents, ‘what are you going to do with your degree?’ Jim’s visit will showcase to students in these majors that there are many ways you can be successful with a liberal arts education.”
As part of his visit to the ASU campus, Hutcheson will serve on a panel discussion and present details about his business success over the last three decades. Following his presentation he will address Liberal Arts and Sciences students, answering their questions on leadership.
“I’m honored to be invited to ASU and to speak with the liberal arts students,” noted Hutcheson. “I feel my successful career working with family businesses around the world is predicated on the education I received at ASU. I feel my psychology and sociology degrees have been equally important in creating lasting, positive change in my clients’ lives, as well as their families and companies. ”
